My first polish review!

OK, here goes nothing.

I have been hooked onto nail polish a couple of years back, actually no.. the addiction started since I was in high school. I remember my first pedicure as a creme baby pink and creme baby blue split halfway down the middle and back then, I knew jacksh*t about manicures, polishes, cuticles, nail art and 10 million other things. Oh, and my first polish was a Maybelline. Too bad they discontinued their polish line, I have an awesome polish from them to show!

Fast forward 6 years later, I was working in the media line and a colleague of mine brought me along to an OPI launch event as I was the only other girl in the company who actually cared about having polished talons every day.

It was the launch of the France collection and we received some gifts – a mini set of the France collection and several full-sized bottles. I didn’t like most of the colors to be honest as I was still very much into the basic reds, pinks, purples and such. But it kickstarted my polish buying frenzy.

2 years later, I found out about online shopping the 3rd parties directed me to SCRANGIE and her beautiful blog for swatches of polishes I would like to order. Since then, I have never failed to log on to her website every week to see her beautifully polished nails and the range of colors and brands that Malaysia doesn’t carry. Didn’t helped that online shopping helped killed some of the lemmings but also my bank account!

10 years from my first polish to today, I have decided to start blogging about nail polish and my personal swatches.

So, to kick start my first blog post on swatches, I have the ever-hard-to-get: Revlon Whimsical!

FYI, Malaysia only has OPI, a pathetic range of Revlon polishes polish (which is pretty much the basic cremes and sheers) and some Asian brands. China Glaze only came in a couple of months ago, and that said, the colours that they have are pretty sad.

In Malaysia, Revlon’s range of nail. I had my eye on Whimsical ever since I laid my eyes on the swatches online. I can’t remember whose blog was it but it was love at first sight. Ever since, I have been hunting at all Revlon display racks in major malls and pharmacies but failed.

I even thought about asking some bloggers to buy, or do a little exchange but I doubt anyone will, considering that no one knows me, and with all that internet fraud, hmmph..

On my recent trip to Phuket, Thailand, I walked into Watson’s (along Patong Beach) to get some lotion and there was a Revlon clearance rack at the entry. I looked and to my surprise and excitement, I found 3 bottles of Whimsical! I was almost jumping up and down in excitement and had to contain myself from squealing and running around like a mad woman.

I had to buy 2 bottles and here are my swatches and review!

I had some franken baby blue as underwear as I tried wearing 5 layers of Whimsical and I looked horrible with my tan and ghostly nails.

This is 2 layers of franken baby blue, and 3 layers of Whimsical. All pictures were taken in direct sunlight with no basecoat or topcoat.

The glitters were hard to fish out and I had to do some placing or they’d all clump at the tip of my nail. This manicure lasted me for a week, with only one chip on my left pointer finger and tipwear. Granted I put my nails through a lot of manual labour as I teach pottery and ceramics, with clay (that’s super drying to my cuticles and hands), some housework and what not.

Removal was the standard with glitter polishes, everything came out and I had to use a little more polish remover on a cotton pad for the last bit of stubborn glitters.

Can’t wait to use it again!

Good lord, I really need to stop buying polishes

I bought a bunch of nail polishes, 3D stickers and other nail related stuffs recently:

Like 5 pieces of 3D nail stickers from some girl in LYN.

12. I Believe In Amour (French) CC-874 - $2.50 RM16.30

Online (http://www.maytheps-au.com/)
A whole bunch of image nail plates (6 pieces to be exact) and 50 pieces of 3D stickers.
RM60++ inclusive of international shipping.
Yeah, I know some of the stickers will be designs that I'll never use. But it's super duper cheap can die!!!

Random stores in various malls:
I bought 2 3D nail stickers from some Japanese store, but I dunno where are they now.

Another 2 long stickers, supposed to be for french tips but in order to save space, I cut them into tiny pieces.

Daddy paid for 2 storage boxes for my nail polishes, and 1 more that are for CDs, but then I just used it to keep the stickers and image plates. Oh yeah, another 2 more nail polishes for nail art - the kind with the long thin brushes. One in silver and one in teal. Silver sucked - the glitters are too sparse.

****
I wanna buy empty nail polish bottles. I wanna franken my own nail polishes!!
I also need metal balls!!!!

BRTC BB Cream

Picture stolen from ebay.

I've read soooo many reviews about this particular brand of BB cream and apparently it does wonders for the skin.

1. It's a triple function BB cream (works as a sunscreen with SPF 20++, provides nutrients to your skin and elasticity for droopy skin).
2. It's not oily and stays on for hours.
3. It helps clears blemishes and pores shrink over time (as read in reviews)

Ok la, I forgot the rest of the benefits... anyway, baby went to Singapore last Sunday, and according to the reviews, it was available at Watsons and Guardians over there so I told him to get it for me if he could find it.

Today, I had to go and walk around the mall to give out some circulars and brief several tenants about a tie-up promotion and Jing had to go Watsons to buy some stuff. I was just browsing around and checking whether they stock Bioré self-heating clay mask that was a must-buy that was mentioned on channel E! Suddenly, Anthony, who was browsing with me mentioned "BB Cream!" And I looked up to find THE BB Cream that I wanted for so long sitting on the shelf!

I immediately texted baby and told him that they stock it in Malaysia and tumpang Jing to buy it. I'm going to start using it tomorrow and of course, I will see if there's a major difference in my skin tone and appearance after several weeks.

And of course - pics of my horrible skin before using the BB cream:
The size of my pores are big enough to be craters!

The left side of my face with a pimple coming out, plenty of whiteheads and some acne scars.

A close-up of the neckline of the left-side of my face. Sigh, let's not even go into how bad is my skin condition.

I wonder what does baby sees in me sometimes, but then again, his facial acne is way worse than mine.

Till then, it's another 48 hours before baby is back in KL...

Bangkok + G.I. Joe

Bangkok (6th-10th August) was great... but I bought lesser clothes than I thought I would have.

The food was great, I especially love the chicken steak burger from their 7-11. I love their grilled pork, the fried banana fritters and their fried chicken. Oh, and there's this whiskey called Sang Som, it's like RM12 for 300ml or something... Smooth and lethal... yums..

We missed out on the dodgy places because everyone was so broke by the fourth day. Cha Tu Chak wasn't that great because we went to the wrong area. Platinum mall was aewsome because everything there was just cheap and nice and prices were negotiable. MBK was so so.. I'm sooo going back to Platinum mall again!

Got freaking sick on the 2nd last day of the trip. Ended up with high fever, was getting chills all the time and didn't get to do my pedi-mani on the trip. Emo.

Got stopped by customs on the way in to the airport. I was actually afraid that I was going to be hit by the H1N1 virus but luckily, the fever went away the next day, but I ended up with diarrhoea. Like turning the water pipe on. I think I lost a couple of kilos after that because I was just eating porridge and drinking soup for that 2 days. I hope the weights stays off.

Came back and Air Asia had some cheap flights promotion and we ended up booking tickets to Bangkok for next year: 15th -19th July 2010.

G.I. Joe was wayyyyy better than I thought. I've given up all hope on all these comic-based movies but G.I. Joe was surprisingly good. Everyone was telling me that the storyline sucks, but it's something I could understand and the action was good!

Went to Cuffz with baby and we both found this nice pair of cufflinks... Going to get it for him when pay comes out end of this month and I was thinking of getting another pair for him when I go and pay for them. =)

Dammit, September is going to be a broke month for me. I got RM600 to pay off for my car's insurance and roadtax, about RM150 for his cufflinks, RM300 for the place tickets to BKK next year, RM500 to my savings account and I will also need to save up for Christmas and anniversary present. I NEED donations to WYNA!!!

****
I brought up the topic of wanting to place some clothes at his place so that I can bath and change whenever I'm over at his place... I didn't want to bring it up initially because I felt that we were moving too fast and it's usually something initiated by the guy but he just said OK when I brought it up.

Yesterday, when I was packing my clothes for our weekly badminton session (I was on the phone with him) and he was telling me to pack the clothes to put at his place. I was tired so I told him I'd pack and bring it on the weekend.

Laid down on the bed to continue chatting and he asked whether we're moving too fast. To which, I replied yes because, besides the clothes issue, he's also been telling me that he has got some plans for our first year anniversary and all.

But of course, it's not a bad thing, NOT AT ALL because it just means that he wants to make this relationship last (PHEW!!).

OK, I dunno what kinda closing line I should write for this entry, so yeah, that's basically what I wanted to update... Bye!

Bangkok, here I come~~ KAP~!!!!

The title says it all. I am going to touch down in Bangkok in S.E.V.E.N.T.E.E.N. hours to be precise. My flight is tomorrow morning at 10.40am and touching down at 11.40am

This is my first trip there with baby, and I'm sooooo excited!!! To top it off, this is my first trip with a bunch of friends, and with my baby!!!

As you all know, Bangkok is THE shopping haven for the ladies, and this is my list of things I'm gonna be buying:

  • Tops
  • Dresses
  • Pants (long and short)
  • Heels
  • Sandals
  • Bags
  • Accessories
  • Lingerie
I was telling the list to baby and I stopped at accessories. Then he said: tell me something new.

"Oh, I forgot to include lingerie too!" (My baby is a big fan of sexy lingerie, but sigh, I am too shy for nuts to do anything kinky). "That's more like it~"

-.-'''''

So yeah, I am freaking excited but I'm still stuck in the office waiting for baby to finish his part time construction-worker-job to come pick me up.

Speaking of which, I better go pay my maxis phone bill and cut off the bastard before he leeches off my account again.

Pics later!!

PS: Office has banned Facebook. I am dying of boredom here. I pray to God that my boss will see that we are unable to work without FB and proceed to unblock FB and MSN. Dear God, please help me. Thank you very much. Amen.
